Video - guerrilla, and gonzo

Once again, I had the opportunity to produce a video in the Drop Test series for SquareTrade.  This time the victims were two hot new phones, the iPhone 4S, and the Samsung Galaxy S II.  By far, this video is the most popular one of the series, having logged more than 10 million views on youtube.   Enjoy the carnage.

UPDATES:

7-11-11 - over 500,000 views between both of these videos!

The New York Times ran a story about these videos, check it out here

I had the pleasure of working with the folks at SquareTrade again, to produce a pair of videos as part of their Drop Test series.

The first one pitted an unprotected iPad 2 against an iPad 2 with a smart cover,  I don't want to spoil it too much, but neither of them made it out alive.  The comments from the fan boys for this video are rather funny.  Boy some people take their love of technology pretty serious

In the 2nd video of this batch, the Motorola Xoom, Samsung Galaxy Tab, and iPad 2 battled it out from waist height drops onto concrete.  Again, there was some damage, but it was worse for some than others.

SquareTrade BlackBerry Playbook Drop Test Video
Video - guerrilla, and gonzo

SquareTrade wanted to create a viral marketing campaign for their warranty packages using video.  The focus is how a Blackberry Playbook can break when you simply drop it. How could I not want to do this.

A series of drops with the Playbook resulted in, wait for it, the screen breaking.  After a number of post screen break drops, the Playbook still functioned, as long as you don’t mind shredding your finger on shard edges across the screen.  This enabled us to capture 720p footage with the front facing camera.  The rear facing reportedly shoots 1080.   720 was plenty for this web based, youtube, twitter... campaign.   Shot with 3 cameras, two HD (DrodX and Playbook front facing camera) and one SD (Panasonic 3CCD with a cheap wide angle lens) . Have a good time watching the destruction. Go to the youtube page and leave a comment to try to win a warranty for your electronic gear.
