Dorothy and I snuck off to San Francisco the other day to take advantage of the free first Tuesday at the SF MOMA.  Not much to report there.  But it was a nice late autumn day, so we walked around the downtown Market Street strip, and when we got down to the Ferry Building, there it stood, a rocket ship just like you see in old cartoons and science fiction books and movies.  The rocket ship is rightly called the Raygun Gothic Rocket, and it is a super cool, stainless steel rocket awaiting lift-off right on Pier 14.

There is a nice information kiosk that gives some idea of what is inside awaiting possible space travelers, including cutaways showing where you live, dine, drive, and do research while zooming through space.  The talented Jodi Medich is responsible for the design of the kiosk info and a number of other parts of the rocket ship.  I have known Jodi for many years, and have long been a fan of her artwork, check it out.  Jodi is only one part of a very large team of designers, artists, thinkers and dreamers who developed this concept and brought a cool rocket ship to the Embarcadero for all to see.  I am inspired by the future thinking of the past that this rocket conjures up, and I hope that you have a chance to see it before it blasts off.
