There's no doubt about it - mobile phone games, when they are designed right, are one of the best things going.  I have played, and been burned by, games that are just asking too much for a casual minute or two of play.  Gladly there are some great game designers out there who understand that waiting in line at Trader Joes can pass more quickly with a few throws of some birds, or in this case some shots at some Stupid Zombies.

No doubt, the hit mobile game of 2010 was Rovio's Angry Birds.  And for a good reason, it's easy to whip the old phone out and get in a few rounds in a short amount of time without any lingering commitment.  That formula has been brought into Stupid Zombies by Gameresort, and it is addictive.  Available for the iPhone for a while it is now happening on Android, and I couldn't be happier.  Really, Angry Birds has been getting a little long in the tooth for me lately.  So I couldn't be happier for some freshness in my phone game playing world.  

What can you expect with the game play?

Now, it might not have the same fun or back story that Angry Birds does but it is free (ad supported).  The shooting is done by dragging your finger around until you have the gun aimed just right, then the bullet bounces off walls, platforms and through the Stupid Zombies.  I am just through the first screen of levels, and have found that getting three stars is quite a bit easier than it is in Angry Birds.  Another thing that is somewhat different is that the zombies aren't as much covered by contraptions built from wood, glass, metal...  They are mostly just standing around, with the occaisional box or something that you need to fire through, or around.  Finally, since your shooter guy is contained within a box the bullets bounce off the walls and some times even right at him.  He doesn't die when a bullet does that, which I kind of find funny.  Finally, the physics doesn't seem to be as tight as it is in Angry Birds either.  None of that is going to stop me from tearing through the game every chance I get though, because killing zombies is pretty fun, especially when they are Stupid Zombies.
